Becoming an Author.
I have always wanted to be an author. It all began with short stories and poetry as a little girl. I loved it. The art of telling a story that captivated an audience. That made them want to read more. See more than they could before. Because, that's what storytelling is all about: revealing parts of ourselves to the world around us.
And it is scary.
To put your heart and soul into a text that can be read by others. Critiqued by others. Loved by others. What I have learned, though, is that storytelling has very little to do with the author and much more to do with revealing the revelations about the human experience to our peers. To pass down information from one generation to the next. To inspire.
To inspire. Ultimately, this is the goal for me. As an author, I hope that the things I write and the way that I write them with inspire others to follow their dreams, face down challenges, and come out on the other side. I hope that the stories I tell bring enjoyment. And growth. And a spark of imagination. The courage to tell their own stories. Because the truth is that everyone has a story.
I am becoming an author. Period.
